2ND ANNUAL FLAMENCO FEST

Saturday & Sunday September 17th – 18th The Cameo Theatre will once again host Flamenco Fest featuring the premier of “Pasos y Pasiones”, an all new Flamenco production by the San Antonio Parks and Recreation’s award winning dance company, Fandango. This riveting Flamenco performance will capture the flavor and passion of Old San Antonio while highlighting the cultural roots of Mexico and Spain.

Developed through workshops with Master instructors from Spain, “Pasos y Pasiones” stays true to its traditional roots while embracing the evolution of modern flamenco dance. This year’s show will feature new duet and trio dances showcasing the continued artistic growth of the Fandango troupe and will be accompanied by internationally renowned flamenco cantaor Francisco “Yiyi” Orozco and Steve Arispe. A standout to look for this year is San Antonio native Claudia Trevino who will debut a new solo dance performance. Ms. Trevino began her flamenco and folklorico training at the young age of four with City Parks and Recreation. She was a member of Fandango for six years and continues to expand her flamenco education as a member of the dance company Entre Flamenco. She recently participated in the "24th Annual Festival Flamenco Internacional De Albuequerque", in Albuequerque New Mexico, studying under world renowned flamenco masters, including: Maria Jose Franco, Fuensanta La Moneta, and Carmen La Talegona.

In addition to “Pasos y Pasiones”, audiences will enjoy classical Spanish guitar showcases, Flamenco performances in the intimate Zumbro cabaret lounge, tapas Spanish style appetizers and be treated to a special Juerga (informal Flamenco jam session) at the close of the festival.
