48 Hour Film Fest
The 48 Hour Film Project is nothing new to San Antonio
but the talent and caliber seems to elevate each year. What has now
become an international phenomenon with projects sprouting up in other
major cities around the world, The 48 Hour Film Project comes to San
Antonio for its fourth year. The project will take place on the weekend
of August 13th culminating with film screenings of all submissions on
Thursday, August 19th, 7:00 PM and 9:30PM, at the Cameo Theatre in St.
Paul’s Square, 1123 E. Commerce Street.
Teams from throughout the San Antonio area will
complete in a weekend of filmmaking with a common thread—all must fit
their assigned genre and contain an assigned character, prop, and line
of dialog. The non-stop, wild weekend of San Antonio cinematography
requires teams to develop, write, score, and shoot their film, all in
just 48 hours.
All film submissions for The 48 Hour Film Project will
be showcased at the Cameo Theatre on August 19th at 7:00PM and 9:30PM
with a $10 admission for each showtime. At each showtime (7:00PM and
9:30PM) there will be different sets of films shown. The August 19th
multi-screening at the Cameo Theatre will be the only time all
qualifying teams’ entries will be screened. In keeping with the Film
Projects mission to “advance filmmaking and promote filmmakers”,
everyone is encouraged to attend these film screenings to see what area
filmmakers can do.
Entries for The 48 Hour Film Project are judged
in a two-tier process, first locally—within each competition city.
Secondly, the winner of the San Antonio Film Project will have its film
judged internationally among other city winners. Each is eligible for
the "Best 48 Hour Film of the Year" grand prize award that includes
$3,000 cash prize, state of the art film making equipment, and a
screening at the Cannes Film Festival.
Space for participating in The 48 Hour Film Project is
limited and is on a first come, first served bases. For more

The 48 Hour Film Project's mission is to advance
filmmaking and promote filmmakers. Through its festival/competition, the
Project encourages filmmakers and would-be filmmakers to get out there
and make movies. The tight deadline of 48 hours puts the focus squarely
on the filmmakers—emphasizing creativity and teamwork skills. While the
time limit places an unusual restriction on the filmmakers, it is also
liberating by putting an emphasis on "doing" instead of "talking."
