WORLD ON A STRING

April 10 – May 15, 2010

no show May 1

A murder-mystery-cabaret written by Amanda Farmer and Dave Cortez

Blackmail, bitter child stars and 90s nostalgia meet in one room in “World on a String,” an interactive murder-mystery cabaret featuring the music of Harold Arlen. The cast of a hugely popular 1990s educational kids’ show, “The Dino-Mights,” has disbanded following a colossal box office flop. More than 10 years later, they are thrust into the spotlight once again as an old contract forces the group of has-beens to reunite for a PBS telethon called “An Evening with Harold Arlen.” As the cast members battle their animosity for each other, the sugary sweet telethon quickly takes a dark turn as manipulation and deceit lead to conspiracy and murder.

Sing along, interact with the characters, and gather clues as you try to solve this modern-day mystery, set to the sounds of your favorite Harold Arlen songs, including, “It’s Only A Paper Moon,” “The Man That Got Away,” “Ac-cent-tchu-ate The Positive,” and his most beloved classic “Somewhere Over The Rainbow.”

Carrie Carpenter, Dave Cortez, Amanda Farmer, Melissa Gonzalez, Isidro Medina, Andrea Rappaport and Iris Watts. Directed by Dave Cortez. Choreography by Andrea Rappaport.
